Faced with several large-scale fires, Greece has requested the activation of the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism.
In this context, France sent, on August 6, a module of water bombing planes of the Civil Security and two modules of 80 persons on foot. A few days later a second detachment with two motorized fire modules brought the French response to 250 firemen.
During this intervention, the modules were confronted with communication problems. In this context, the Mission Critical Services part of FENICS was deployed to meet the needs of Push To Talk communications, instant messaging and also team geolocation, especially for those on foot to ensure the safety of the personnel involved.
